I was the first one to die, scored twice less dmg than the best shooter in my team, but I got 3 stars, Max Gold bonus with 41k gold and a 1st place.... make me understand :p
I get it that 3 stars grants me the 1st place, but how? All of my 4k dmg I got from battling the defender in the very beginning and I died xD.

Funny, almost every of those situations the top player always has fire bomb. And in the rare cases where they player doesn't have fire bomb they have stun or freeze.

I think I'm starting to see a pattern.

there's a "secret sauce" that calculates who gets the most rewards. Now you can do much less damage and kills and still get HIGH rewards. We have yet to understand this but many people suggest it has to do with staying together and working as a team. If you get those results then you were working as a very good team player and rovio will reward you for it :)

Yeah, from all the recent posts about this, it seems the contribution is "tweaked" very much in favor of burning right now...

Also, if you look at how many people have legendary item on that team. Then that means you won by skill and not the biggest gun. This might play into the secret sauce as well. Who knows :p

I have a theory! I think the fire damage bonus from cannons applies contribution differently if you're not the one who set the target on fire. Maybe if you shoot the guy who's on fire, part of your damage contribution is actually given to the person who set them off? The actual damage number is still displayed as yours on the stats, but the calculations count part of your damage as theirs, instead. This assumes that most, if not all, other people have at least one of the passives or perks that gives the fire damage bonus. Who doesn't?

Or maybe fire is counted twice for contribution, as both damage and "support" for some reason, even though a lot of people below 2000 may not have that damage bonus at all. I hope it's the first theory, since this one is a lot less fair.

You know this makes a lot of sense. I also felt my shots were very smooth and accurate, I had a nice flow. Then I died and my team finished it strong. But yeah maby the fire bonus that my team mates got from my firebomb/flare gun contributed to my rewards. Oh god... I just felt my stomac turn, because if this is true then the developers will nerf the firebomb and flaregun next. Everyone stop talking about fire period, ok. Fire weapons suck, totally underpowered and worthless!

Broke out a calculator, and the numbers don't really make sense. Just subtracting a percentage and adding it to the bomber only makes sense if the percentage is high. Anything below nearly 20% didn't make much sense, but 20% doesn't seem realistic for anyone on the team. Everyone would have to have missed pretty much all of their other attacks. Not only that, but they would either need Bhurt at lvl 23, taking both fire buffs, or Bhurt at lvl 15 and taken either 2 Uncommon fire perks or 1 Rare fire perk, despite not bothering to even bring a Flare (which describes me, but I doubt most people really do that >_>).

Here's the breakdown for 20%, rounding each number:
    #1: 4716 (actual damage) + 1934 + 698 + 686 + 682 (20% of everyone else's damage) = 8716
    #2: 7735
    #3: 2792
    #4: 2743
    #5: 2729

So, my second theory is probably more credible. Fire is just straight up counted more than everything else. Other mysterious contributions are probably negligible, since a Mk 4 Shooter did only 1000 less damage, but was counted as having done less than the average (he only got the star for winning).

I thought I had it figured out but after this match I'm clueless as to how stars are awarded.

Got 3 stars but did 2 kills......Got 2 stars while I did all 5 kills....Both the time I had Fire Bomb, which means stars have nothing to do with such kind of weapon. Screenshot_2017-07-05-21-39-43.png Screenshot_2017-07-05-21-52-13.png

Nobody ever claimed that fire bomb guarantees 3 stars. My (personal) conclusion is that fire bomb helps in getting stars.

True.....U can still get 3 stars without having fire bomb in your load out.
It's something else for sure. :)
