Dear Battlers!
A new update has arrived in the Bay for you to enjoy rapidly without any recoil!
Yes, we did it, we added a new weapon: GATLING GUN! With it’s 4 barrels of fun you can rock the waves hard; either holding down to unload the entire magazine at your opponent or tap for extra crazy one bullet of destruction at a time!
The next big change might not come at a complete surprise: we removed the items
Rudder and
Gear Lube from the game. Instead, we added Gatling Gun talents to the Crew, compensation as well as replacing those two items with Gatling Gun goodness everywhere else, such as shop or Guild Raffle.
With both items gone, we decided to increase agility for ALL ships! More fun, more action for everyone - from new to top players! Find a detailed list of these upgrades below in the
BALANCE section.
Why did we make these changes? Let’s hear it from our Lead Designer:
We have a few main reasons for making these changes:
- Gear Lube and Rudder make Battle Bay worse
- Gear Lube and Rudder are the least popular items in the game.
- To actually make them useful means that Ships need to start with bad agility and bad turret tracking
- Agility and faster paced action should be the basic experience in the game, not something to progress / unlock over time
- Camera-Relative steering is significantly more fun when ships have higher agility
- The old way of steering your ship can be very confusing for new players, so we started to experiment with camera relative steering
- We tested both control schemes some new players (with a randomized ab test) and Camera relative steering was a clear winner
- The new player experience is important to us and a better experience helps us bring more players into the game
Find a detailed explanation below from “Mr. Screenshot” below, of how the compensation works for you, who have invested in Gear Lube or Rudder:
