When my current target dies, or I choose to switch, here's a crazy thought: maybe have the system pick the Speeder that's running circles around me five feet away and not the SHOOTER sitting ten miles across the map who keeps blinking in and out of vision because of said massive distance.

Use target lock. It helps. And use the arrows to switch targets fast.

I DO use target lock, and I've lost track of the times I hit the arrow to switch targets and instead of picking the guy RIGHT NEXT AND SLIGHTLY BEHIND me, it picks the guy a mile away.

Use your finger and tap on the ship on screen you want to target.
This method can be easier when the screen is cluttered

Sometimes when I spam target arrows, I inadvertently reset camera to front of ship because I missed the arrow with my fat thumb...
Also, when ships are in a narrow cone in front of you it can be very difficult to isolate that one crossing back and forth nearest to you.
Never tried this, but I will certainly give it a shot. Sounds like a good tool.

No, not the little tiny mini boats at the top with the health bar underneath.
Tap on the actual ship you want to shoot at. (The ones which are moving, shooting etc)

Yes. I tend to use it when I'm attacked by a couple of ships and need to quickly select the right ship to attack.

Holy crap, just tried it out. I'm a senior player but i didnt know such a simple targetting existed! Now I can easily target pesky fixers without target lock, thanks man!

WOW, I had no idea either. This is an awesome little feature to find out about. I'll be using this a lot.
