Flare Gun Worth It?

Hello,
I am a mk5 Speeder in Ace League running a L5 Epic Carronade and a L4 Rare Blast Cannon (with 2 crit chance perks and a legendary Speedy Cannon perk). The carronade is firmly bolted to my boat and is not going anywhere but, although I love the blast cannon (in a perfect world I'd have an epiced out copy, but no such luck), I am looking to upgrade my second weapon.
My question is this: in a matter of a week or two I will have a L4 Epic Flare Gun with all epic perks... in your opinion(s) is it a worthy secondary weapon (in conjunction with the carronade) even though the damage isn’t instantaneous and I won't be making full use of the flare gun by taking advantage of its cannon fire damage bonus? Or am I better off building a L3 Epic Grenade (with all epic perks)? Or sticking with the rare blast cannon? Or going dual-carro. with my L9 Legendary carronade? (I had planned on using it situationally, preferring something with more reach right now, considering I'm going up against mostly mk6 boats.) Anyway, those are about all the armament options I have at the moment. Many thanks in advance for your comments and ideas.

 

A lvl40 epic flare gun will still do around 1400 damage I think, it is a worthy secondary gun even without the cannon combo. Double carronade is fun, although it is hard to use it effectively to its full potential. I built two carronade for that purpose, but I always drop infamy when I use them. As for the grenade, it will get really good once you get training and perks on it. A lvl50 epic can do 2200+ damage on a single shot, if I were you I would level up the flare and grenade. But then save duplicates for any epic cannon besides sniper. Grenade goes good with blast/explosive and flare goes good with blast/standard/explosive. If you must choose between the two, I would say grenade is better as a lone gun than the flare gun. Also enforcer with carro blast and grenade got me to nightmare, so they are all good guns

 

Flare isn't that good with carronade. Double carro is good but you can't use it full potential in every game because there are many mine spammer also you need to play very sneaky. I suggest you keep using blast or go for grenade.

 

Thanks everyone. After reading the responses and thinking about it I’m inclined to start building my epic grenade, but grenade always seemed kind of awkward on a speeder. Am I wrong? (I used to use a T40 Rare Grenade on my Enforcer and loved it... but g-nade seems much better suited to that ship.) And how do you think g-nade will sync with the c-nade on a speeder? All thoughts / advice welcome. Cheers!

 

I would have thought Big Torp was the obvious companion for a Carronade, as they cover each others’ weaknesses.

You can use BT against groups, and high defense targets, and rattle off Carronade at anything that gets inside your arming range.

 

Flare is single most worth it 1 slot weapon..I dont remember any other 1 slot weapon being able to break maxed out T5 epic tesla Shield at a considerable range

And it is also great against fixer as a boat,Or the team with a fixer.Anyone getting hit by a good 20 sec flare(since you have T4 epic) will cease to heal for that duration.30% heal Reduction is a solid advantage to take down a boat(if focus fired)

Carronade+Flare definitely seems Unorthodox,is usable tho..
But then you have a yellow boat which can use all three,why not use it

Also flare disregards point to defense,so kill those blue fatties will be easier too

 

Try a flare-blast combo with burn buffs. Just make sure you für with the flare.

 

Pleas don’t remind me of the two Epic Ex Cannons I scrapped when I thought I was Enforcer For Life. They would go great with the one I opened after that, and with the damage reward copy to form a T40 Epic and the ideal complement to my carro. Alas, that is not the case, and here I am searching for a replacement.

Anyway, anyone have any experience with speeder and grenades? I’m reluctant because like I said before it seems a bit awkward...

Just look at the top players right now and that should answer your question. MANY of them run flare and ex cannon on a speeder. As stated above, flare does also break a T5 epic tesla shield. The only other weapon that does that consistently is a T5 epic rail gun, but that has a huge cool down. I run a maxed out epic flare and ex cannon (w all burn perks) on my shooter and it consistently does 2300-2400 damage per shot which is Nice. Plus, the flare will always assist your teammates as Bhurt has so many talents regarding burning targets.

 

Its upto your choice mate.

 

I personally don't like flare because enemies can hit you back when you set them on fire. Although if there was a carronade burn perk then it would be really good to pair with your flare gun.

Don't worry. As 1 year n as a Niitemare league player. I can tell you the best weapon I ever grew was the Flare.

Almost every boat benifits from the arming the flare. Whether shooter, enforcer, defender, fixer, speeder.

Think of it as a team building weapon.

The flare when u use it tells all other friends team. Focus on American Maurader. He is on fire. They see it.
