Hey guys, everyone knows that Bandage has a cooldown of 5 seconds.

Why this cooldown is not affected by skills and perks, which reduce the cooldown for healing items?
At the same time, skills and perks which increase the power of healing items work well for them.

I have skills which don't work for my Bandage, there are also cooldown perks which would be nice to fit in the Bandage.
For example, new legendary perk could be an awesome boost, if the game mechanic didn't look like the prealpha release.

Bandage duration cannot be affected by perks, in order to maintain balance.

What are you talking about? It is possible just to decrease the power of bandage if CD start working for it. Balance is not a case.
The case is laziness to make a quality product.

Game mechanics should look well designed and concerted.

    Its not laziness.
The devs do not want bandage to be affected by perks, this was a deliberate decision they made.
It wasnt an oversight that they cant be bothered to fix.

Do you understand how the game looks like when:
    1. We have an item, which repair the ship health - Bandage
    2. We have skills and perks, which reduce the cooldown for repairing items, and they don't work for Bandage
    3. We have skills and perks, which increase the power for repairing items, and they work for Bandage

Maybe you don't realize it, but if the game mechanic looks like it was made by 5 years old who was too lazy to make it better, then there is the same attitude towards the game.

In this situation the developers should do one of the following:
    1. Modify the description of skills/perks
    2. Modify the description of Bandage
    3. Modify the work of skills/perks to work the same for bandage - either both work, or both don't

Cooldown means "For how long this item is unavailable after activating it". Bandage is not an item you activate, so it doesn't have a cooldown either. Instead, it has tick rate which is different. Similarly as flare gun damage has tickrate of 1 per second. Redusing flaregun cooldown does not make it tick faster.

Thank you for description as to how bandage works as well as flare.

make the bandage heal every second, but reduce the effectiveness to 30%
but it still has an overall buff which is needed

That would make it kinda op. You would need to decrease it by 80% if it's every 1 second, and even if it needs a little buff, that is too much. Say, a bandage that heals 100 every five seconds will heal 350 every five seconds.

Bandage is massively powerful as is. Certainly doesn't need any buff.

No, most people would choose shields or turbos over bandages.

What infamy are you? At 3k infamy most mk6 players have either bandage or small shield (about equally common I think). In fact, a lot of people would probably say bandage is more important than small shield (along with big shield and turbo which will always be 100% necessary no matter what happens)

See, even you said big shield and turbo will be 100% necessary, so they would choose those over bandage. And there are 6 blue items and the bandage would place third or maybe fourth, which means it's around the average, so it's not massively overpowered. Btw, I'm at around 1.6-1.8k infamy, used to be 1.8-2k until I scrapped some stuff for no reason at all.

Imagine if bandage healed every 3 seconds from perks. My big torp and blast cannon wouldn't make a dent in a defender because after 30 seconds you have 10 ticks and a bandage that normally has 50 heals every 5 seconds would get 500 per 30 seconds or 1000 per minute. 5 minutes in a game so 5000 healing in total JUST from a 50 heal bandage that had a tick buff.
