What will it be?

 

Reduced cooldown 5 vs 5 TDM?

Update: Increased speed, agility, and turret speed.

Perks look great, carronade damage / range and a canon which freezes?
Plus first legendary perks for greens / yellows!

 

I think that this event will be fun... but I'm disappointed that the first 3 special events were all TDM. I thought that we'd get more variety and not recycle modes successively.

Devs, please tell me we will be doing stars this time around though??

Frost items just got even more useless now that you can freeze with any cannon. Standard Cannon just got a HUGE buff too. Quick reload with freeze chance is massive.

 

The banner says it's a 20% increase to ship speed, agility, and turret rotation, as well as 20% reduction in item cooldowns. 5v5 TDM, first to ten kills wins.

Going between modes is gonna feel weird. "Man, my ship is like molasses, what's wrong? Oh right, regular ranked."

Also hoping to roll that Legendary Repair Perk!

I want the cannon perk, but it's not quite as up there as the torp perk was.

 

Yea the spread makes Carronade pretty useless with Range perks. Reduced spread or increased slow woulda been better.

 

Interesting thought. It's only 25% freeze chance at the Legendary level though, so you'd have to be pretty lucky to keep someone freeze-locked. And unlike Stun, they can keep firing back. They might just decide that you're locked in there with them and use the fact that you're in close-range of an Explosive Cannon with 20% reduced cooldown ... and its own chance to freeze you.

 

Think about a Speeder running Cannon and Big Torp though (or Explosive Cannon and Swift Torp for me). Now they don't have to waste extra time/slot to use the frost and fire combos. Speeders can now double combo without sacrificing any yellow slots.

 

If they're willing to bank that combo on hitting a 25% die roll sure, but I suppose Speeder is all about the high-risk-high-reward playstyle.

We also don't know if it's a reduced-duration frost; if it's similar to how the Railgun perk works, it'll only be a 5.0s frost at most. Yes, that's enough time to get a torpedo off, but you're still relying on your teammates to not remove it.

 

5 seconds is plenty with a frost. The duration on my Epic T1 and T2 frost items is way longer than what I need. I know I'll be running double blast (one with fire boost, one with frost damage) and Swift (with leg wildfire) if I get an epic/leg frost cannon.

 

1. BC #1 freezes target
2. Swift does increased damage from frost and sets target on fire
3. BC #2 does increased damage from fire

Prepare your sacrifices to RNGesus in advance, but if you can pull that off it'll be quite painful!
