Noticed this a while ago, but always thought it could be lag/ latency making me see things. Now I’m confident this is a bug.

Specifically, ships take no damage for a short period (<1 sec) after using Nitro.

In game today caught a speeder by surprise - point blank. He was right against a wall and facing it. Right as I shoot him with my Explosive Canon, he hits nitro (I see the animation) - but he doesn’t really move since the wall is there. My EC hits him right on, but he takes no damage. Zero. Zilch. Nada. Not even splash damage from the EC hypothetically hitting the wall.

Is this intended but not on the tooltip? Is Nitro really supposed to bring a moment of invincibility?

Well, if he "wallbanged", he might have "wobbled", and, excannon's hitbox being what it is, I think your shot must have passed and gone into the water harmlessly.

If anything it hit the wall and shoulda splashed at least something. Going to try some controlled experiments in custom and see if I can record definitive proof.

Must be that somehow the shot didn't register.

Maybe EC projectile is just too slow and the nitro is too fast, so it seems like you hit him, but in reality he had already moved away in time?

Yes sometimes it does seem like Latency(unregistered shots) is nitro speeder's main weapon!..Its bound happen in any point shoot weapon and E.C. being the worst of them

Nitro doesn't make you invincible. If i go straight to the enemy with nitro they can hunt me down easily so you have to be maneuver. What you guys talking about is a glitch, shoots doesn't hit actually.

I TOO SAW one as he says in todays match
one of my team mate speder...just escaped .02 sec may be with nitro...but it shows nitro hit...but he ran away from the ex can easily.
i have examined in replay...normally it seems as hit.

to know this kind of things we need pause forward backward and slow motion in replay....requested many times to add the options. else always we need to go back for replay to watch 4.80 min shots....lol

this makes the replay more comfortable and no one comes here as mentioning bugs...

You couldn’t test this by nitroing into a mine, as that would mean you pressed the button before impact; and you would have to have impeccable timing to hit nitro the exact moment you cross the proximity line to trigger the explosion. Not saying it’s impossible, but it’s unlikely.

Below I have a couple screenshots that prove this is something to look at. Agree that we can’t know for sure until devs look at the code behind the game, but here’s what I got:

EC is the best test of this bug, as it has different animations when a shot registers as a hit than a miss. That is, when an EC shot hits a ship, it produces a spherical animation (blast radius); but when it misses and hits the water it gives a splash animation.

EC hit at same time as nitro use produces the spherical animation, but no damage registers:

    EC miss shows simple splash:

    You just described latency.

    Um no...

Latency: the delay before a transfer of data begins following an instruction for its transfer.

If it were latency, the shot just wouldn't register as a hit. If you actually look at the screenshots you clearly see a hit register via animation.

The animation is what you see it as,the server on side of game sees it as a missed shot!

Since explosive has slower projectile,it happens a lot in this weapon.Especially on nitro Speeder

It also happens when you hit shot simultaneously getting stunned by enemy.Regardless of graphics, damage doesn't register.

    Ok - I get that.

So, if Jokesezi shared his link to the same game his replay would show my shot as a miss?
