In some cases it seems better not to upgrade your ship.

    Hello Everyone,

Yesterday I finally had enough gold to upgrade my mk4 Speeder to mk5. My very first mk5 ship! It looks very slick :)!

The difference between mk2, mk3 and mk4 Speeders seems less, than between a mk4 and mk5. The mk2, mk3 and mk4 have almost same build, same size. But mk5 is quite a bit larger, which make it less maneuverable than its predecessors. And because of it, I struggle a bit with it. With the mk4 I could take very sharp corners in Wayward, and less so with my mk5. Of course it is early days, but I wonder in de long run if I feel the same and preferred the mk4 Speeder above the mk5. Time will tell, but when it does turn out the mk4 suited me better, well tough luck, because my mk4 is gone.

Most people are always eager to upgrade and for good reason. But sometimes if you a like a ship, why not keep it a little longer and upgrade your weapons first, before you upgrade your ship? I know there are advantages with bigger ships, but so have the smaller ships. Bigger is not always better!

I always performed better with my mk2 than I have with my mk4 for instance.

    What are your thoughts?

    Regards,
    Flint

HP is king and so are item slots so upgrade is a must but the timing depends on 2 things in my view, 1st do you know what preferred loadout you want once upgraded, 2nd do you have that loadout maxed out already. If the answer is no to either then fix this and then upgrade.

Trust me when I say I had the exact same problems as you when I went mk5. It's a big change, made bigger by the fact that you're no longer a newbie who could test setups in the blink of an eye. Let me dig up those posts for you...

Never upgrade your ship!!!!! I really regret that I have upgraded all my ships to mk7.

People with high infamies are using lower mk ships in the death match, where the matching is solely based on mks of your ship. As far as I know, they are using mk1 ships, and can get 3 stars very easy by one shot killing their enermies (sometimes they even matched with bots). Many of them got more than 4 legends last week. I think they are again exploiting the matching mechanism, and I hope devs can do something, since otherwise it is very unfair for other players, both in lower and higher infamy levels.

I didn't have a problem when I upgraded defender to mk5. It was already slow and not agile, so it made barely any difference in disadvantages.
