Duration is obviously better, you get two extra seconds of 80 damage.

It depends on how you like to play, if you are for example a defender, the duration might be less valuable than dmg and cooldown

I think the quickshot works best on napalm, since they last long af anyway, far longer than how long people stay in them. You'd get to drop them more often and the % increase must scale very nicely with their insane base fire damage.

But you're missing out on two seconds of 80 damage. Taking into factor in damage overall, the flare with the duration wins over the quickshot fire perk. Besides, the quickshot fire perk only gets rid of 0.7 seconds of cooldown, that's not even worth.

short cooldown at least allows you to light up more foes quickly and the damage boost means increased burst damage (at least until you start stacking them, then duration is better again). This is worth it for people who are trying to rapidly burst people down imo.

Actually, the quickshot perk would be better for damage overall. The dps for quickshot perk is 183 and dps for duration perk is 174. Per shot, the quickshot perk would only deal 48.3 less damage, and it reloads faster, so imo the quickshot perk is better.

Not for flare, but for firebomb or napalm?

Unless you play shooter, I’d prefer the quick shot one (90% sure).

It's literally only 5 extra damage points, a 0.7 second less cooldown, in exchange for 2 seconds of 82 damage and extra time for you to land your cannons off. But talking about damage is not a very valid point, because to be fair on both sides here, flare ticks can vary in damage. The only balanced way i can see which one is better, is if we put them side by side, hit two flares on a defender and see which flare does more damage. By the power of maths.

    1. Its five damage points ×21.5 seconds, not just five damage points
    2. If you did that, your not taking the cooldown into account

Depends on your combo. If you use cannons, duration is better, if you use other stuff, maybe the other.

Yes, i know. I calculated the damage between the two, the flare with quickshot does 1870 damage average, while the flare with the duration perk does about 1910 damage average. I'm not considering the inital shot of the flare gun, i know it does damage when you shoot it and it lands because i do not know how the damage is calculated.

What i meant by two flares on a defender (I wasn't really clear, my bad), is shoot one flare at a defender and then when the flare cooldown is back up shoot it again. Do this with an epic t5 flare gun with quickshot and duration perk. Then you could test the overall damage, including cooldown compensation for quickshot.

    I'll say this.

If you run a burst loadout on an assassin ship like speeder, you don't want quickshot since you'll be running too hard to exploit the lowered CD 90% of the time.

If you run a strafe loadout like enforcer, you want quickshot since you're basically gonna be able to exploit it well

    Correct me if I'm wrong
