Hi! I'm new on posting in the forums(just made my account) but I've been reading them since I started the game and this is the first time, on that note, I was talking with a friend and we were giving ideas on thing we'll like to see in the game, how to fix problems we thing should be fixed and things like that, then this came:

What if the ships MK's where given by the infamy of the player rather than the level, so we could have brackets that decide what MK you could use on your ships, this way players from the same infamy level will only play against same MK ships, and the only advantage a player would have from other will be their weapons, level and rarity, and their ability, for example:
    - MK1 from 0 to 699 infamy,
    - MK2 from 700 to 1399,
    - MK3 from 1400 to 2099,
    - MK4 from 2100 to 2799,
    - MK5 from 2800 to 3499,
    - MK6 from 3500 to 4199 and
    - MK7 from 4200.

(This is an example where brackets have a size of 700, but they could vary for each MK or different size)

In this way (I believe) games would be much more balance for everyone on their bracket and much more focus on the player's ability. This system will reward players who are good at the game and punish the ones who're not. To implement it the game will need to lock ships on the set infamy brackets, and give player the ship MK base on the infamy they currently have, so for example if I have an mk5 ship and I'm on 3500 infamy, the game will give me the MK6 ships or if I have a mk5 and I'm on 1500 infamy I'll be forced to use an mk3 ship.

To avoid people from been "stuck" at brackets limits we could use a system that prevents you from going down for a certain mount of games, for example: I'm on 2120 and I lose a game, instead of going to 2096 I stay on 2100 and the game gives me 2 matches to win a game, If I lose those 2 then I go down to 2000 (So I don't immediately claim back to 2100) and I'm force to change my ship from MK4 to MK3.

I know it might have some problems and some things might need to change, but what do you guys think?

Your assuming people have skill. Not everyone has skill, some of those mk6s at 1k are actually trying to win.

I suggest that you don't get a certain mk if you're below a certain level.

Suppose Mr. Tanker tanks down from 2k in a mk6. Now, he tanks down to 1k. But 1k allows only mk2s, so his ship gets downgraded to mk2.

Because lets face it, nobody deserves to use a mk6 at 2000, much less 1000. But at least 2000 infamy players can handle them.

I'm not usually this imperative, but we must not let these bullies ruin new player experience with their BS

I think this is the main problem I'm aiming for, give most players a better experience.

That's the point, reward players that have the skill.
EDIT1: Those players at 1k with MK6 that're actually trying to win might have a better chance of wining facing people with all the same MK as them and them having better weapons, they'll probably clime really fast.

    -100,000,000.

I'm a MK4 speeder at 1300-1400 infamy... I am NOT going back to weak attack MK2.

Who expects a mk4 to be almost in ACE league?!

I've never seen a MK2 in Masters league. Barely seen any MK3.

Sure, there's MK6 at Masters league, but the reason they are there is because they have no skill. Which means fighting them won't be a problem.

Also, this would not fix infamy tankers. MK 2 and 3 running around with high level epic or leggys... hoo boi...

As said before, this idea might have some problems, and to tackle each of your points:
    1) As I said in the post, those numbers are just as an example, sure brackets could go down and have smaller ones at the start and bigger ones on the end to keep most players in some range, for example:
    - MK1 from 0 to 499 infamy,
    - MK2 from 500 to 999,
    - MK3 from 1000 to 1499,
    - MK4 from 1500 to 1999,
    - MK5 from 2000 to 2999,
    - MK6 from 3000 to 3999 and
    - MK7 from 4000.
So players wouldn't feel that much downgrade and new players can feel they improve fast.
    2) Assuming the example is how brackets would be set, if you got "back" to mk2, so would everyone else on that bracket, so you wouldn't feel it as much.
    3) If you had amazing weapons you'll naturally win a lot and climb fast, so it'll be really hard to keep on the low brackets. Even if it doesn't with this system you facing a "tanker" have a better chance of wining because they'll have your same MK, so similar HP, speed and all, it wouldn't be as juicy for them to go down if they can't overpower everyone always.

But again, just an idea, I'll like to hear feedback and discuss :p

Some people are actually not skilled enough even with better ships, and if this happens, they're just going to quit. Also, if your ship gets downgraded when this happens, some of your weapons are just put to waste. Also, imagine "yay I got my new mk7! Yay there is an update! Wth why am I mk5?!"

    Here is another problem:
There is almost no difference between mk2 and mk3. Slightly higher caps and 1 slot or slot point. Almost nothing.

Would you mind expanding a bit more on how is this a problem?
Isn't it still a problem right now?
Doesn't this system makes that problem smaller (In the way that you could give mk2 and 3 brackets a smaller gap so you can easily move on from them)?

Just becuase you change from mk2 to mk3 doesn't mean you can climb another 500 infamy.
Also, would you still have to upgrade your ships or would that be automatic?

Wow... Everyone just pounding on this guys idea rather than trying to make suggestions to make it a BETTER idea. I think it's a great start to working towards fixing the biggest issue battle Bay has. If they have no skill with a mk6 then chances are they gonna quit anyways, and they are the few as opposed to the many that are stuck with a mk5 or 6 at the 1500+ range BECAUSE of the no skill players ruining every match... Great start to an idea that COULD possibly work OP

But what if you're a mk 5 in the mk 6 area? I'm constantly 3.2k+

But since the mk6s have no skill and are at low infamy, theoretically, it should be as hard as it is for them to kill you as it is you kill them.

Well, no. Mk6s have weapons that can take you out in 3-4 shots.

What's that they say? "The bad guys only have to get lucky once"? Yeah, that's applicable here. Mk6s have pools of HP and only have to land 3-4 shots to kill one ship

But since they're at the same infamy, they should be less skilled since they have better weapons and ship. They might not know how to lead their shots, they might stay still the whole time, they may just be really bad in their own special way. So, in theory, it should be balanced, which, in a way, it is.

I've been pounded down by t3 legendaries in Ace 2 too many times to think that "theory" is the same as "practice";):D:p

Yes, but when it’s a two shot death situation... and when your teammates take a big torp and you suffer...

    1) The thing with this idea/system is that everyone you play with is guarantee to have the same MK as you, so even if the difference is small, everyone will have the same ship level as you so it can be posible to climb on infamy.
    2) I think it would have sense to just "unlock" the ship, since you'll need it to play on your new bracket.

Thanks man, but I don't feel people are "Bashing me" or the idea, I feel this is all great constructive comments if someone sees a flaw or I fail to explain something I must fix it or explain it better so it can grow. That's how I see it ^^.

The thing is that there would NEVER be an MK5 playing with any other MKs than 5. Maybe I didn't explain myself good in the main post, but the thing with brackets is that you will ONLY play with people in your same bracket, so for example if you are on MK4 bracket, every match you play is guarantee to be 5 MK4 vs 5 MK4, even on the low and high limits of it, you'll just play with people with your same MK ship level.

This is exactly what my system/idea is aiming to reduce, the frustration factor of having to face someone who's not as skilled as you but has 2 mayor advantages, one been their weapons and the other their ship. What if they only had ther weapons as advantage? It could be posible for you to take them more easily if you have the skill, or not?
