    BB is a perfect eSport platform, but the substantial RNG nature of the game makes it difficult to qualify as an eSport unless players & teams are equipped equally. That's a significant change but can easily be accomplished.

    It would be a great e sports game. But that needs both teams on equal grounds to begin with. So RNG has to go. Proper balancing of ships and items is required. They will also have to introduce different combos not just fire.

    Personally I'd love the idea but like many others have said, the only way to do this is to make sure everyone can have the same equipment. Currently the only way to get those high end legendaries is to pay thousands and thousands of dollars, honestly speaking grinding is not an option. In nightmare everyone who places little below the top gets 1 legendary piece every two weeks, that's average 20 weeks for 1 single legendary item and you need to obtain hundreds of individual legendary items to collect enough duplicates to have entire boat of tier 5s.

    If you win nightmare league every week (obviously not possible in real life) you'll get 100 legendary items in 400 weeks (little over 7,5 years) and if you can't make it into top 10 (but you're still a world class player, rank 20 for example), it will take you 2000 weeks (or little over 38 years). Now that was for 100 legendary items but realistically speaking 100 is not enough for full boat of tier 5s. It may be enough for some t5s but definitely not all. Then what about all those parts and power cells?

    It is possible if there are no tiers for weapons/ships in the game. Competitive games start with everyone on equal footing and relying only on individual skill and teamwork.

    Battle Bay as competitive game will require a major makeover imo.

    I agree that for the a game to be truly competitive at a high level, progression needs to end in a more reasonable amount of time.

    Getting all t5 Epics is perfectly possible, but t5 legendaries are not just a ‘long term goal’, they’re not even achievable within a normal human lifespan, let alone the length of time someone would realistically stay interested in a game (maybe 7-10 years at the long end).

    I think t5 legendaries would need to be achievable for F2P within 3-5 years, tops, for the game to be an eSport. Not 3-5 decades for a top 20 player (which probably isn’t possible as F2P anyway).

    Esports aka competition mode needs Scaling of ships and item when starting up the match. Say BB team decides to enter into eSports and keeping same game mode as it is currently. Everyone should start as mk6 and T4E/T5E. Before starting matchups players will choose weapons perks and talents they want. So every grind has to go.

    OR

    There can be new game mode, a longer one, where ships tiers will increase as you gain experience and gold from either taking objectives and killing opponents and then sending that gold to buy talents and upgrading tiers of weapons (perks needs to go).
    Every combo will solely depend on talents you train.
    Players should respawn after dying variable respawn time according to time frame in the game like for first 3min it will be 15sec next 3min 30 sec and so on.

    People have already pointed problems of the punishing item progression, but haven't identified the root cause. The root cause is that the item scaling is very bad. Once an item is fully upgraded it completely makes all the same items of a lower rarity completed uselss. I.e. Rares outclass uncommons, epics outclass rares, etc. This would need to change if the game wanted to become an esport. At max level all rarities for any given item would need to have their stats level out once they are fully upgraded. To make this feasible there would need to be proper item scaling.

    So for example. Commons max level would be level 11, Uncommons level 9, Rares level 7, Epics level 5, Legendaries level 3 and all their stats would be equal at max level. The only difference I would allow would be the perk slots. 0 for commons, 1, for Uncommons, 2 for Rares, 3 for Epics, 4 for legendaries. Or alternatively give 4 perks for all rarities, introduce common and legendary tier perks, and the item raritiy can only equip up to the equivalent perk rarity, eg. A Rare item can equip common, uncommon and rare perks, but not epic and legendary, etc.

    What would this achieve? This would make all rarities much more viable with the only real difference being the perks. This would would make it more realistic for F2P and low spenders to reach not only nightmare but potentially challenge for top spots. This would also allow players to use more weapons since it would be worth having a maxed out uncommons and commons to play in guild quests. And if you end up playing in tournaments, then this would allow more players to change their loadouts to adapt to opponents over a series of games, since you can expect players to play unusual loadouts which might hard countered certian boat combinations and loadouts. Having the ability to change gear easily between matches would be vital for creating more even and exciting matches.

    In essence if you want to make your game a successful esport then you need to make it possible for F2P players to actually be able to win, even if its unlikely. No one is interested in watching or playing a game where only people who spend thousands of dollars can be competitive at the top level.

    Unfortunately our dream of e sport will never happen for another two reasons.

    1 e sports mean event, rewards, and marketing which is money spending for the company and from my experience in this game they don’t like to spend money or give free stuff easily.

    2 I don’t think they have enough staff or the right staff for it because equal mode or what ever they will do to balance it needs work like the update we are hearing about for 4 months now.

    For competitive gameplay everyone should be given a set amount of “loadout” points. Let’s say 100 for talking sake.

    You then give access to pick all items/tiers/perks for appropriate cost.

    Tier 5 legendary might cost you 80 points... (so good luck building the rest of your ship with 20 loadout points).

    It would be about finding balance to maximise effectiveness with the points available, but it would be fair in that everyone would have the same points to build and access to all items. The only difference is strategy and skill.

    You might get people running “Glass cannon” builds with a powerful weapon and little/no shield. You might get people adopting a more even strategy. We could see common flares paired with legendary BC/EC. We could see speeders with common nitros... lots of possibilities to be explored.

    But yeah you can’t make it pro/competitive game with the current structure.

    Maybe as a 1 week/day “event” the current structure could be placed on hold (or ran concurrently).

    I didn’t say dev just to make you understand I said the company isn’t welling. Second yes they I said they don’t have enough staff or the right staff isn’t that the excuse you MVP come up with all the time the team is small ? So what’s wrong with me saying they don’t have enough ? A lot of people here works as lawers for the dev.

    Every time I see you post it is only negative about how bad the game is, how bad the devs are etc.
    I get some things are frustrating, we all have our own issues that we wish we could change, but would be nice to see some positivity from time to time :)

    I see many people mention about the RNG thingy..well just do it like Clash Royale where they have tournament level cap, so everyone have a limited firepower, say maximum of tier 3 gear and and no perks allowed, all to be fit on a ship caped at mk5..

    But personally I think the game community is too small to be introduced as an eSport (this can be change ofcourse)
