Overall, matchmaking is fine for me. I only have two issues, maybe Rovio will consider this:

    1. Lately I tumbled from 2200 infamy to 1700 infamy. Part of it was also the issue described in item 2. However, a strange problem started with the loss of infamy:
To counter my previous infamy score (and maybe my better gear) the matchmaking did put me into teams with some 'lesser' ships and also with some very unexpierienced players. I think it is ok for me, when the game tries to balance things out. However, my strength is playing in a team, not dishing out maximum damage. I'm often the guy with the most kills, because I know when to go in and put pressure on the unfriendlies to tip the match in my teams favor. Good team members see this and are going to support you, bad team members don't. So, in many of the following matches I was the first to die. I also did win a lot of matches - but here comes the real problem - the game does penalize you twice: You are matched with lesser ships and you don't get a single star when you win the match (even if you applied the most damage and killed the most unfriendlies). I had 10 winning matches and not a single star. And a quest to reach 5 stars. Can you imagine how frustrating these long hours were? And it's not only the stars, you also get very little else when winning. Since the game tries to balance things out and puts you in a weaker team, why do you also get lesser rewards?
    2. There are still a lot of absent players. I had times were every second match a team member did nothing. These matches are mostly always a total loss of time.
I understand that there may be technical issues or someone is calling the players phone, but this does not help the other 4 players in the team at all. They not only loose the match, they are also wasting their time. I would suggest to increase penalties for being absent in games and the rate these penalties apply. For example, the penalties could be short periods of time where the player is not allowed to play again. I mean, if you have technical issues (because you have a bad connection) DON'T PLAY THE GAME. If you have a lot of calls incoming, DON'T PLAY THE GAME. If you are distracted, DON'T PLAY THE GAME. Some people seem to have problems following these rules and ruin the game for other players (or they simply want to cheat). More penalties may change their mind.

For the most part I’m happy with matchmaking. Though I do see an awful lot of ships at (what I would consider) the wrong infamy.

I usually top out at about 3.1k, at that stage, I’m often the only mk5 in my games. But I can lose a thousand infamy, get my rewards taken away, and yet still be getting matched against mostly mk6 ships.

I think my biggest gripe with the game is that you can never really work your way above the imbalances, or escape the noob players.

It would be nice if everyone (or at least the most dedicated) could eventually work thier way up to all t5 legendaries. And then presumably all the games at the top would be fair, and at 5-6k+ infamy all the games would be between skilled players with equal gear.

But that’s just not the case. For f2p and non-whales, the best you can hope for is a set of t5 epics, maybe a t3 legendary if you’re really lucky. So there are always going to be worse players with better gear ruining your games (and that includes them being on your team).

I remember reading a LONG time ago in the forum that after the initial 10 players are selected for the battle, that one factor used to base each team selection is to combine players on win streaks against players on losing streaks. Does anyone know if this is actually true? or was it just a theory that somebody couldn't confirm?
If this is indeed a factor in team balancing, this could help explain the why we end up on long losing/winning streaks for a game that should be around 50/50.
Hope we get something exciting in the update.

yes it is so. The game is based on ELo rating system which guarantee 50 50 win ratio. no matter how good you are, the system will put you in a horrible team to ensure you get crushed and thus maintain the win ratio. This is not counter-strike mate. 1000 games 500 wins. end of story

I like your comments. Btw, what do you think about why do they show the number of matchs played and won matches? Whats the point when you already know the number of won matches. This is laughable, if the number of match won is something to brag (say 70%) about then it should be shown.

It's the opposite: players on losing streaks are placed on different teams ;)

That's probably the worst description of the ELO system. You are not going to be put on the worst teams but you're going to face enemies at your level and then you'll have a tougher match.

match making is fine.. is it? oh hell yeah it is fine. Just stay calm and win the game. no one is perfect. I jumped from 1800 to 3000 in 2 weeks with my lonely fixer. how's that? just upgrade what u get and sail your boat and do your best. As simple as that. peace..

is it the same thing as to guarantee you have 50% chance win. Your skill and your team mates are variables to select when matchmaking. Tougher enemies or easier enemies all serve the purpose to guarantee your 50% chance.

Which one you'd prefer: having to deal with not much more than 50% of victories because you are having fair fights or being bored because you're beating weaker or stronger enemies but winning around 70% or 30% of your battles?

For eg..I severely tone down my performance when there is 60% chance you might loose.Mostly when the First player dies in 30 secs.I did that for 5 matches(as an experiment to how infamy gain works) since one bad player in every match.Guess what,I was on a lose streak.Lost around 6 straight match without a single improvement in teammates. I'll post those 6 straight replay in que

(Asian banana,The best player in my team almost dies.So i commit suicide,Since it was doomed match)

(Must watch-A fixer named Ddony rushed straight in enemy.I commit suicide by remaining AFK since there was no hope for us to win once our fixer was dead)

(Captain so n so rushes into enemy knowing that there are three yellows to take him alone.I played decent expecting a better team because of my low ELO score in last to match.#Gottrolled).Lost 25 infamy

(Party my fault, but look at my team's Speeder performance.Absolutely horrible camper.Again bad performance by me,so i guess ELO would be even lower with all those loses. But no!)

A fixer name Sarome suicides right away.Zero heals, zero Damage)

I bet ELO is perfectly working for this people who throw the matches since it keeps them at 50% win ratio. Its definitely not working for me since even playing with extra level of consciousness hasnt improved anything for me

@Kyoob Cubison Please dont take it as a personal attack. But a player with mk6 speeder playing at 1.7K infamy shouldn't really be making post about good matchmaking. It is definitely not an average infamy for a mk6 boat

This was my mk4 with Uncommon perks and uncommon yellow item.Max i got was T2 epic LRM

It was clearly unintended. This not even close to personal attack on member, only to his thread post
I just told him what his infamy should be.Clearly would a mk6 player with 1.7K infamy think matchmaking is perfect.Ofc its perfect for him to bully the poor mk4/Mk5 players at that Infamy

Btw he said he was 9 months old player at 4.5k infamy. His player tag states otherwise.
Maybe a second account! Still if he is an experienced player,he would have made it to 3K atleast

    Btw,This a personal attack

Just two other games i played right now(compare date and time +5.30 Gmt)

Because the nightmare players fail to perform,my infamy suffers.

Ofc i m to blame, because the matchmaking is perfect
