    Need some help. I am switching to shooter from speeder main. I know it's usually the other way around but constant nerfs have left me no choice but to run with a shooter for the following reasons;
    1. Shooters are plenty.
    2. Shooters don't have to worry about cooldown.
    3. Shooter life gives more achievement score to get better weapons.

So here is my shooter loadout which I was never going to use. Torps. Those torps.
    Screenshot_20180501-104922.png

The problem is I have never played shooter since I was at 1000 infamy and the gameplay is miles apart from where I am now.

I've been playing with average results for the past few days so I just want to know if I'm missing something. Do I need a ship upgrade? Maybe a different loadout? Some mortars to spam? Mine pooping? Call out together and stuff? Any help/suggestion is very much appreciated.

I cant help you, but I am with you on this so will stay tuned for the advice from others :)
I am lower in infamy than you and usually play speeder / enfo but do use shooter for guild quests when required.
Whenever I play shooter I encounter the steepest drops in infamy, and like you I ask myself what I am doing wrong.
My gear is OK (good enough for my infamy), my accuracy and map awareness are good too, so why do I struggle to play Shooter?
I can deal twice as much damage with my enfo with only 3 weapon slots and 3 slot points, it doesnt make sense!

    I'll say this:

There is a fundamental difference between how yellow boats position themselves and how shooters place themselves.

You can apply tons of pressure, but if applied wrongly, it is useless.

Your very presence can be used as a tactic by yellow boats.

Play long. Always play long. But if forced, give them hell at short range as well. You need the weapons as three long two short.

Sniper cannons are your best friends. If you are a shooter who brawls, you better have big guns that do four digit damage above Ace 3. Otherwise you are just a defender with more guns and less armor, and you WILL go down before a crapton of sniper and mortar fire because you lack the speed.

That's all I can say after playing with shooters and looking at them from a third person perspective.

More experienced players, feel free to correct me;)

I'm still working on the positioning part. Some of my games we were steam rolled and a few games where I did 15k+ damage and didn't even realise it.

I have learned these things so far while playing shooter.
    • Defender is your best friend. Same was the case with a speeder but when you are a shooter those hit points are even more valuable.
    • Getting stuck and sinking is easy. Getting stuck and getting out alive is tough. Maybe a 5% chance of survival will be approximate for most of the situations I got into so far.
    • Fixers. Defend it like it's the only thing that matters. Save the fixer with all you got or die trying. Go before the fixer or with it. Sometimes situation might call for a different approach but make sure that fixer has got one boat as assist.
    • Always let the higher hp ships take lead. As a mk5 I get matched up against mk6. So even if they take that intitial damage, their bandage will being them back.
    • Torps are your worst enemy. Get hit by a crit rather than a torp. Shooter is nowhere near fast enough but old habits die hard. Sometimes I still get close calls but there is no nitro to get out of the way. Gotta remember that.
    • The worst kind of unfriend is the firebomb spammer. The ticking death will eventually get you. Kill the bomber first. Suicide if you must but get that guy out asap.
    • Yellows are a nuisance. Glad to realise it. :p still not all yellows are like you were so a little direction is necessary with an occasional negative to the destroy someone when you are running for your life or stopping a suicide mission. Doesn't mean they will listen.
    • The most boring part is the start of the game. You can't zoom out so check who has what equipped so you can combine attacks with that team mate. I like to work with a flood of torps or rain of snipers, whichever works.
    • You have to put effort into accuracy. Too many weapons is an overload. There is a chance that you might miss a lot cos with a speeder I used to hit bulls eye at the speed of sound and leading shots was something I wasn't even thinking about. With a shooter, it's a little hard since waves and your super slow-mo speed gets in the way a lot. My view is obstructed cos I don't have any mortars, missiles or grenades for that high view.
    • Enfo dance. I don't know if I could pull it off with an enfo but with a shooter it saved me a lot of time from snipers. Dancing when you have 1000 hit points left is fun.
Sorry for the long post. Still need some decent positioning advice if anyone can help. Especially for chill zone and wayward pains. Rest of the maps are okay. I can play from a lot of positions and figure out which is working on the go.

I am far from experienced...only hitting 3699 recently, but #shooterlife since I started last April...
In Ace 1, I am more often than not matched against NML players with fierce weapons...
    My little opinion would be:
    • More HP
    • Mk6 boat and bandage or standard shield for extra blue slot
    • Maybe something airborne?
Other than that you have a great set up...if you can't get HP increase yet, stay long range without camping!
Oh and wayward pains sucks for shooters - slow turn, slow turret, too many walls! Chill zone is my favourite map (but I have T5E missiles!) word of advice don't get stuck in the bottleneck!
Good luck - see you on the bay :D

You have a pretty solid setup for future use. Try to build that epic sniper and a small shield and you should see your infamy rise considerably. The fire perks on the ex canon are great since most shooters will carry a burn weapon of some sort. Try to maximize those shots. Since you don't have a burn weapon you definitely want to keep the swift torp for sure to fend off the yellow boats with shields. I use a flare for that but would really like to have a nice swift torp. You are definitely correct on the rewards as well. I like to play speeder occasionally but I Rarely see the rewards that I get from using a shooter. The only shooter downside is the number of weapons you need to build to have a formidable setup. It ends up being a lot of parts and sugar, but that is part of the fun of the game. Attaining the seemingly unattainable. Good luck!

Finally I'm getting used to being a shooter main. I still don't have anything airborne but I'm working on it. 2 epic and 2 rare missile launchers are waiting for just a few more.

Check this battle and please let me know your views/suggestions.

I'm not going to brag about 3 stars cos I get those a lot now-a-days. Sometimes without even trying which is okay. Its a nice change from speeder days where 3 stars meant you have done something incredible. Also getting a lot of star crates is a plus. Might get something useful.

Yup, 3 stars meant your team's dps(the shooters and defenders) was crap. You know, I always say, when you feel like you were slicing unfriends up like butter, you have a good team(as a speeder). But when you feel like Kratos himself, taking on titans with full HP bars, and end up with 3 digit health and one-two kills, but 15k+ damage....

Your team was full of 'tatoes.

I switched from defender to shooter in nightmare and took my typical defender setup plus 2 more weapons. I tried so many combination for those other two and one thing I found out was that missile launcher is a must for a shooter. It's that one weapons that you can use in any situation. If you're good with missiles, they're deadly at mid range and still effective at long ranges. I'm not a fan of big Torp in enforcer heavy meta because they're just too mobile.

This is what I'm playing in nightmare right now. Mostly midrange but sniper and missiles provide enough long range support. I play aggressively and ships are in my cannon range most of the times so ex cannons work fine for me.

I play shooter sometimes, so I might have a few tips:
    1. Always stick with your team and don’t stick out too much forward. If you go too far away from your team you’ll get targeted, and you can’t get away as easily as a speeder could.
    2. Spam those torps like crazy into crowds!!!
    3. Always be moving forward or back and forth, cover using corners and objects in the map is also good.
    4. Your setup covers all ranges pretty well, but a mortar could be good (replace the big or swift torp, whichever one you’re worse at) try a Berta if your good at leading shots, or a long range if you like to stay back (I use Berta, it does a ton of damage)
    5. Not much else to say... constantly fire weapons whenever you think you can hit to take advantage of the extra dps with shooters

    Good luck :D

Also, don’t chase ships faster than you (fixer, speeder, enfo) they will always get away.
Stick with your team so that the team as a whole takes less hits (less teammates die)

Get all torps and bull charge into enemies 3 swift 2 big boom boom boom:p jk.
Shooters are powerful in groups so cut out habbit of speeder by going alone and get missiles and its 5th projectile 2 snipers rest you can decide. 1 weapon for breaking shields. Don't chase speeders;).

Sometimes your team doesn’t know there’s an enemy speeder so if you can’t focus him then do the command “destroy xxx”

I will as soon as I find some more. Will take some tips from Eeyore. :p
And missiles. Damn hard to get. I have couple of epics and rares and whichever gets to t4 first I'll rush it.

That's a dream setup for me. I like playing with cannons. I got to 2.5mil damage for EC with only my speeder so I know my way around slow projectiles. Slow torps are a big no no for me but right now this is all I have. It's the best and only setup until RNGesus is feeling a little merciful with some epic or rare missile drops.

The first thing I would suggest u to do is upgrade ur damn ship. Getting an extra blue slot is hella important in many situation. Also, u have a decent turbo to upgrade ur ship. Because, speed is life. If ur a slow ship, then u'll get targeted first. ( From my personal experience ). And coming to the build, it is pretty decent. But, I suggest u to replace ur swift torp, with rail gun or missile launcher once u get mk6.

The problem with Most of the shooter's is that, they forget that they have 5 weapons, and sit idle doing nothing. Once u figure that out, then u'll gain infamy faster.

    Peace :D

PS: Most important thing is, enjoy playing shooter as much u enjoyed playing with speeder;)

Sorry I did upgrade to mk6 last week. Here is my loadout now.

    Screenshot_20180514-234738.png

And I'm trying to get some missile launchers but until I don't get at least a rare of epic t4 I guess it will not be worth it cos climbing infamy means I need to carry 4 losers with epic t5's who do half my damage every match.

For now I at least need decent firepower until I have something better. I'm also looking for some strong fleet partners cos with speeder I used to go solo most of the time and I'm getting a headache trying to carry every match. :(
