to see the loadout of opponents, other than to search for them in the bay after the game? I do not understand how, at 400 infamy, my defender is often hit with 800, 1300 and even 1800 points of damage. What weapons are they using? I feel stupid shooting back with weapons doing 200-400 points at best.

    Thanks.

After you play a bit, you will start recognizing different types of weapons and you won't need to see the opponent's loadout, though you CAN see the cannon they have ready on their ship. (Watch your own ship when you change between different weapons).

Torpedoes, mines, blast cannons, sniper cannons, and rail guns are all capable of immense damage, though not consistently.

It really sucks though that newbies can get matches with drastically stronger opponents.

Thanks. I'll try watching to recognize the weapons. But even a Legendary Rail Gun/cannons can't do 1600-1800 points of damage (this has happened to me twice) at fully maxed out capacity, but even if they could with perks I shouldn't expect to see that kind of weapon at my newbie level...or would I?

Out of all the weapons...The only one you may not recognize initially would be big bertha, long range mortar, standard mortar.
Because their "red" radius and projectile look the same...there's really no way of knowing.
Ballpark has a much bigger radius and with perks, could emulate the other mortars...

But torpedos are pretty easy to identify by speed and damage output (though higher up might be harder to decifer)
Mines are mines. Rocket launcher, 3 red rings.
Expo and blast cannon from their explosion pattern. Sniper from it's range. Regular from it's trajectory.
Carronade from the damage pattern and range.
Grenade launcher, damage and range...usually a short "lob" toward you, not a long red circle waiting for heaven to crash on you.
    Rail Gun, it's BRIGHT...:)

Hope that helps in identifying what hits you...:)
