You play Battle Bay for some time, are about to upgrqde to shooter mk4 and you have the required money(bcs you are a calculate hipster and you spend them rational and with caution). What you upgrade for it?
(I know i have 9 rare wep. parts.Yesterday evening I got one from parts.I am still confuseld how the heck I got another 9 ones in less than one day.
I would use my blast cannon bcs it's epic and fab, aswell as one of my torpedoes (not good at aiming them tho),grenade launcher(bcs I can get it to tier 2 and bcs speeders are annoying, but I'm aware it's just a situational weapon, too low range).I was thinking about upgrading napalm bcs napalm is my soul weapon. Ditch that rare cannon and switch the Blast cannon in. Standard cannons deal damage TOO low. And with shooter MK4, the reload of standard cannon will be too fast that you will waste its high dps.

My vote is to Grenade Launcher. Extremely useful except the blast area seems to be buggy. No blind spot unlike mortars. Not blocked by ceilings. Sometimes burn enemies for an extra 50% damage. The ultimate close-combat weapon. (I believe Carronade is for melee-combat lol)

I am MK3 with grenade, works well for me.

As I said,I know it's a very usefull close quarter weapon, but as I said,I'm afraid it's only a situational weapon.I prefeer staying in the backline and sniping them or shreding 1/4 of theyrs hp with one bertha hit rather than going batman between them.
Also,I've sadly noticed that my equiped kit lacks control weapons(ones thst split enemy team, block acces, etc).
And why to choose blast cannon ?Standarn one got bigger range, greatly increased dps and daster projectile.

One of the reason is said above: you don't have the time to use that cannon.

Your infamy is rather low so you may not know cannons doesn't really work in the higher leagues, especially when yours is T1 rare. As a shooter, I am in ~1300 infamy and scrapped my T2 rare cannon already. They nearly don't do damage, especially to defenders and fixers, and get blocked by waves too frequently. Though the later one is not a problem compared to sniper cannon.

If you can aim correctly, whether a projectile is fast doesn't matter, see the direct hits with Torpedo? A blast cannon is meant to, like its name, blast. The high damage makes it really good in higher leagues to blast off speeders and fixers. But sadly if you need to maximize its effect you WILL have to sacrifice the sniper cannon due to the distribution of skills of Bhurt.

Just shoot, get as much damage done as you can. Here i will give you a quote from ROVIO

"Shooter brings the pain. This ship is specialized in damage dealing. With more weapon slots than any other ship, she is a formidable beast of a ride. Red means danger. The Shooter has the most weapon slots in the game, allowing it to deal the most damage out of all the ships."

The cannon is an excellent late game weapon, once u get all the skill perks for your cannon, it has 30% reload speed faster than usual..
But its ur choice man, not on me.

    Everything is awesome late-game.
Carronade slowing your movement speed by 70% and turret turning speed by 50%.
Swift Torpedo having a whooping speed of 10.
Greande Launcher going pyromaniac (>50% burn chance with perks) dealing immense burn damage.
    Missile Launcher having 5 projectiles.

    At late-game, I don't think I will use Cannon.

I use carronade too, but the debuffs are really horrible. Suggesting to get the range and ignore the debuffs. Damage is better.

I'm about in the same boat as the OP. Should be upgrading to MK4 shooter tomorrow. Currently I'm running T3 Rare Cannon, t3 uncommon Sniper, and T2 Rare Blast Cannon. I know the blast cannon and sniper cannon don't go great together because of bhurts training tree so in time i will get rid of the blast cannon for something else, but these are all the best and highest level weapons I've been able to get. I'm trying to decide what to put in the new mk4 spot. I think the way a shooter works best is when you equip it for various circumstances which is why I like my current build. The canon and sniper have good range for long shots and the blast is great for when i get a little closer. I generally like to keep my distance and then move in if an enemy splits off from the pack and i can put some hurt on it with the blast cannon and quick reload of the cannon. With the quick reload time of the cannon in this build I pretty much always have a weapon ready to fire and the cannon does about the same damage as the sniper too(minus the crit chance).
So since i don't need or have ability to fire more weapons any faster, I figure the last spot goes to something that improves my options. So I'm leaning towards a mortar. I have a rare long range mortar and an epic ballpark mortar. Also a rare napalm. Not quite sure which to use but I'll probably go with the long range mortar for now just to give me another option when I'm at distance. I think I'd prefer a berta if i ever get a rare one or decide to start putting some levels into my uncommon. That way the 4th option is large damage and since I have the other 3 weapons the cool down won't really matter.
Anyway that's just my thought process if it helps at all.

my advice is a well rounded weapon load... have at least 2 point-damage weapons, 1 napalm/fire bomb/mortar or missile (best to use missile) and 1 type of torpedo... that's my take... though it's also important to note that several of the top shooters don't use torpedoes but they always have at least 1 weapon that goes over obstacles.

with the fleet option nowadays, you can be more specific in your role depending on your partner. partnering with an aggressive close-combat type of speeder/enforcer will allow you to carry more area damage weapons like double mortars or more torpedoes (if you're partner uses a strong frost blaster) to provide deadly damage support to you speeder/enforcer buddy.

mines are also great for shooters specially if you like to control the map and be more defensive.

for me, a shooter should always have at least 1 sniper cannon and/or railgun, and at least 1 missile/mortar/napalm/fire bomb. i personally don't use mortars anymore because speeders/enforcers dominate the nightmare league and mortars are ineffective against them. An mk4 shooter can carry 4 weapons, i suggest you equip at least 3 that can help you effectively deal with the yellow boats. also keep in mind, that you should be able to deal great burst damage. you have to have the ability to destroy a ship (except defenders) in 1 salvo - this is very important when your enemies have a fixer with them.

    hope that helped

    Cheers!!!

Play MK4 Speeder like me fam. Sniper, Big Torpedo and Frost Blaster. I do immense damage, most of the time more than Shooters and around 1300-1500 infamy range .

Great suggestions and along the lines of what I was thinking. Unfortunately so much of a build at least at early stages is dependent on what weapons drop for you. On that note after my previous post an hour ago i just combined to get a new rare weapon and it was....another long range mortar. No I have 2 and it is the only rare mortar i have that i can get to level 20 currently. So that pretty much makes the decision for me. My 4th weapon will be a long range mortar. I would prefer missiles or a berta or something else, but this will have to do for now.

I use mk4 shooter at 1900 infamy. My build:
    L30 rare cannon
    2x L30 uncommon sniper
    L30 rare big torpedo
With this build, I can put decent damage at long range with 2 snipers. In close range combat, My Big torpedo deals 1000+ damage per hit and my cannon has higher dps than blast cannon

yup, what i shared was what i think should be in an ideal situation, but a lot times we just have to make the most of what we get at the earlier levels... for mortars, the best is the long range mortar because you can upgrade its projectile speed thus making contact with your target sooner. standard mortars are great for spamming and the bertha is practically useless without frost support.

for torpedoes, tritorps used to be the king but after it got nerfed, big torps have taken over the top torpedo spot.

Go with the weapons you love, and keep the weapons you use occasionally - scrap the rest. At mk3 you should be learning what play style you like the best and what weapon combinations work best for that play style. You'll need epics to get higher in the rankings, so the earlier you decide on what weapon combo works best for you then the earlier it can be for you to decide on what weapon type you want to specialise in.
