Do people have to CARRY out of low infamy?

People have leveled and upgraded their gear, some people derank on purpose just to pseudo-smurf, and sub-1000 probably isn't the same way I remember it being.

I have a friend who's stuck at 600-700 infamy using a Mk 3 ship. I've played with him, he's not that bad, but for some reason he just can't rise. His gear is on the level of the 1500 infamy range, at least from where I'm sitting, and he tells me he fights a lot of people that around his same level. That surprises me since I thought 600 was filled with people on Mk 2s. I'm thinking there must be a strategy problem, but nope, he knows exactly what he's doing and where he should be. At worst, he just misses an inordinate amount of shots, but that never seems to stop anyone else from rising in the ranks.

Then it hit me. If his only problem seems to be not doing enough damage, doesn't that mean he basically has to carry out of low-rank? Breaking out the DPS-machine just to get out of the equivalent of Bronze can not be fun. Then another related question: If you can't upgrade fast enough to overpower the other people that are fighting at your same infamy level, but your infamy level also doesn't rise, couldn't that get bad for new players coming in? I guess that's why the bots are there...

 

for the latest update, they cant do that anymore, for they will stuck in thier highest infamy to the next league, they just cant drop infamy and troll the lower level.
For this update, it will minimize the trolling in lower levels.

 

I have the same problems, I find it helps the most to A. don't engage early unless its with a sniper or torpedo, and B. try to win the biggest possible battle, wherever you have the largest salvageable number of ships. If someone is going to die early, don't let it be the one player on the team who can aim.

 

League infamy and actual infamy level aren't the same thing. You're matched based on your current infamy, not your league standing. The latest patch didn't do anything about that.

Whoever said I can't engage early with a basic Cannon was probably the guy shooting me with a Sniper every time I do it (which is all the time).
I agree, people try and chase targets pretty often, breaking off from the team. Even Defenders rarely try and Defend people.
