Yes it is hard to get dupes, but right now I have more epic dupes than power cells to evolve them. That's why it looks so ridiculous: dupes are so hard to get, but power cells even harder? Don't understand that. And I can forget about to try another boat, with current "balance" it will be impossible to evolve decent items for it.

Then your result is 562 +/-10 epic power cells ever :)

Edit: But actually after scrapping you got some power cells back. For T2 epic item this is 5 power cells. Sooo corrected answer is 559 +/-5

Just keep in mind that powercells have only been in the game for a year or so (since the old shop system update). Earlier people could evolve items with just duplicates and gold and many long time players (including myself) have evolved significant amount of items before the powercell era.

Max tier for items used to be 3 but the level system was also different back then (there was more than 10 levels for each tier). Tier 3 required total 6 duplicates (similar to modern day tier 5) and in the update these old maxed tier 3 epics were converted into t4 lvl 40 items.

This makes the situation even worse. Because some of the calculations that were done, could be for players that got there first evolved epics in old good days without power cells. That means that they got even less power cells than calculated.

When the progression was changed to powercells and t5, the level balancing gave a free evo for some items. My epic t1 blast was upgraded to t2 in the new system, without any power cells. Meaning, for Bittersteel, his items probably got an evo without power cells, so the whole amount is a little bit smaller.

I played since global launch too and have 415 epic power cells total. I have 15 now because I play with all ships so you can imagine the annoyances of having my upgrades block by power cells. When any game introduces a new upgrade item, it comes with a benefit. Power cells have no benefit beside helping the prelaunch people to have more advantage.

If you only play with 1 ship, you likely be fine from epic power cells but you're pretty much screw if you play multiple ships. 100 power cells per tier 5 is insane for something so hard to get. I use to hate it when I got it from raffling. There will be a time where rare items no longer be enough and you'll start leveling up epic, the real blockage will be power cell.

Only the great Rovio can think up of something to screw its fan base.

I have lots of epic powercells, maybe because I only use rares.

OK, I'm right on the cusp of making that move. I'm currently focused on getting all my rares up to R40. I have epic flares waiting to be cooked but I haven't done so yet. I certainly understand the issue of not having many spare blue parts -- particularly since I don't scrap anything. I upgrade all my rares to at least T2 as I'm able. But I don't see the problem you're painting. Sure, I have no spare blue parts... ever. On the other hand, I already have R40 gear. That E40 flare isn't going to revolutionize my game experience. It'll do a bit more damage. There's hardly any rush to get there. So I figure I can just take my time and continue plodding along upgrading all my rares and about now I want to start accumulating epic stuff for the upcoming binge of epic upgrades.

Yes, you are relaxed about the amount of epic power cells now, because as you said you building first of all rares. At that point I also didn't care about it and made fun about uselessness of them. But as in the one of the previous posts was said, it will be really an issue once you'll start to replace your rares with epics. So if you gonna play this game for a long time, start slowly grind the cells already now, as was shown on several examples (two of them are in the topic start) it will take surely about a year or more just to be able to upgrade 8 items to T4 epic just in terms of the epic power cells needed

No I get that. And to some extent I'm less worried about it than others because I grind a lot so gold/sugar/pearls are seldom a problem. But the other and bigger reason is the same reason I'm in no rush to upgrade my flare. I already have 4 epic flares. The problem is that I can relatively easily upgrade my current rare flare to R50. That means the epic version is about 20% more powerful. Don't get me wrong, that'd be cool. But it isn't going to win a lot more games for me. At least for me, what is going to bring my infamy up is more skill. I need to be better at where and when I attack. I need to live longer.

Then again, I swapped over to speeder for a reason. I think the yellow boats are much more responsive to player skill so to an extent you can offset crappy gear with better skill.

This thread is a good reminder as I try to move from Rare to Epic.

When I ran into a Rare power cell issue, I did all the same calculations as the OP and it put me on a 3 month recovery path to get all the cells I needed to upgrade the items in my inventory, which was actually only a set of Canons, not much outside of that. 3 months after that I have yet to receive enough Epics to replace any of my Rare weapons, so I'm basically flatlined in this game until RNG blesses me with something useful. I've been T2'ing many Epics to save inventory and now I wonder if I shouldn't be doing that. It's only 10 cells per while it takes 100 for a T5, so it's not a huge deal, but 6 months of being flatlined in this game due to cells and RNG is actually getting on my nerves. If something doesn't break in a month, I'll be seriously re-thinking the time I devote to pretending there is a progression in Battle Bay.
