    Hi guys,

Lately I got killed by mines quite a bit. Not because I am suicidal or I don't see them, but because they go off when I am not even that close to it.

Does the mine have such a big 'hitbox' or is this some other weird thing I don't get. Also do others have this issue?

Sometimes I pass a mine that's at least an entire boat length next to me but it still blows up

    Regards, Josovo.

They're proximity mines, you don't actually have to touch them directly. Their triggering radius is much larger than the size of the mine itself. They're also set to go off in 1 and a half minutes, so if you're close by when that happens, you'll also take a hefty blow. In general, you wanna stay away from them completely.

Just noticed this a few days back that while in-game I was at a considerable distance from the mine I was avoiding as per my point of view but watching the same thing in replay I was on top of it. Good thing it was a friendly otherwise I would have blown up. My ping averages at 250 most of the time.

I guess you should check you replay to know what happened at the time you hit the mine if you were at a distance which should not have triggered the detonation.

Never knew that. And the proximity increases upon higher tiers and higher levels? And the proximity is about a boats length then? If so, that explains a lot.

Yeah, come to think of it, I notice sometimes I die by mines I couldn't even see, and I look around like crazy when I play my speeder. Usually I only get caught by mines when they're well hidden or when I'm too focused on an enemy, but sometimes while I'm just cruising along I randomly die by mine.

Well, they still have bigger hitboxes than they look, but if your ping is pretty high I guess just avoid being anywhere near them at all costs xD

It does not increase, it's fixed. They just go off if you get somewhat close to them. I'd guess it's about half the size of the explosion.

Lol. I have run over mines so many times it might put a defender to shame.:D

Although when I think about what an ideal distance might be to get past one, a really obvious factor knocks on my brain, waves.
While waves just bobble up and down it does reduce the apparent distance if the waves are big enough like in subzero. Idk maybe I'm crazy but I have been close enough to mines on that map to blow me up and they didn't. They were not friendly for sure cos my team had to be in enemy spawn area for that to happen so I guess there is a way around. Also sometimes when I try to squeeze past a mine on a bottle neck it doesn't blow up and when my teammate tried the same thing it exploded. And again let me point out that the mine was active as the spikes on it were sticking out. And as waves are everpresent we could try using them if it's only a chance.

    Worth a shot...

As a defender, it's the most worth it for you than your teammates lol you're doing them a favor

Large waves make hitboxes, mortar radius and torpedo trajectories hard to gauge
