I think that these theories are as incomplete as they could be. I never see those who complain about ROVIO's secret system to make them lose to take in account: their opponents; the fact that because they are humans, they may get tired after playing some time; the way the some wins or defeats can affect their mindset; anything else that could influence their game.
Without considering that stuff the only thing said is "Oh, suddenly I started to lose! It must be Rovio. I'm so much better than everyone else after all"

Maybe some peeps don't like being on one face of a two-faced coin xD. Stats is the science everyone thinks they are an expert in, but nobody wants to be a subject of.

The reason for the snarky responses is because it's clear from their responses to Captain Obvious's well explained answer that they either didn't read it or didn't fully comprehend it.

There is no criteria other than your infamy is used by the matchmaker to match 5v5 with other similar infamy players in an evenly matched total infamy game between teams. If you win more you will move up in infamy and be matched with other players with similarly higher infamy making the match more difficult. High performing players may for some time be able to have a high win ratio but eventually they reach an infamy plateau where their gear/ship/skill will win 50/50. In practice, not many have a statistically significant positive win ratio unless they bought gear at a low infamy. This is because gear/ship/skill improvements are gradual otherwise.

    Actually, it’s huge.

Do you really expect to go up 2-300 infamy in a day and not come back down? What about the following day? That kind of gain is unsustainable. If you made that kind of progress from day1 you’d be in Nightmare inside two weeks (barely time to get to mk3).

Even 100 infamy a day is not sustainable, and that’s only 4 games! If you only won 4 games more than you lost each day, you’d be fighting against Banderas and American Marauder before you even hit mk4!

Of course you’re going to stall and get knocked down. You’d be lucky to be able to hold on to +24 infamy, without upgrades, let alone 2-300.

That is super cool of you to do this! Finally, some interesting stats. Have you calculated the team infamy for both teams for the games that are won vs lost? If Infamy is the sole determining factor to increase the likelihood of a loss, then we should be able to see that.

Here are my last 136 games. It's hard to know where to begin the count so that would explain the ratio difference, additionally, I usually have more streaks that are in the 5-8 range than in this sampling, but here it is (sorry, no colors :):

Just theorizing, it looks like they may be manipulating accuracy "lag" to balance win/loss. Again, without an official answer from Rocio, we can only speculate. In the interim, I wrote a complaint to Apple that all game makers, should disclose if they manipulate win/loss's. Obviously, if you spend money, it get's better for you, which isn't too different from the loot box fiasco hitting the game industry.

I know that you're just speculating, but devs have already stated that they do not manipulate matcmaking in any manner other than the "loss streak breaking mechanism", and doing something like "manipulating lag" is not only ridiculous, but also unnecessary. They could just team you up with bad players all day instead, if you think about it in that manner...

*sigh* This comes up over and over again. Yes, you are exactly correct which is why "win ratio" isn't a very useful statistic. The real question is infamy... where do you stabilize your 50/50 win rate at?

Some might even suggest that this was the inevitable result of a properly functioning matchmaking system matching players against those of equal ability.

Obviously the devs want you to lose. Sometimes, you can get frustrated, which may lead to spending in order to dominate the game, which will lead to ROVIO getting money ( and possibly making a movie. Yay!), which might lead to everyone being happy. Start spending, people!

I’m not a statistician, but a 50/50 win/loss ratio is extremely improbable considering the vast difference in player ability, ships, weapons, perks, and connection. If you had 2 equally matched players and all other things being equal, then that would be a different story. And not to be a lawyer, but the devs have specifically mentioned “matchmaking”, they have thus far refused to answer: “If there is anything in the game that effects a player and/or team to either win or lose in order to balance out the win/loss ratio.” There are many technical things that can be done other than simply team selection during matchmaking. There has been so much focus and speculation on the matchmaking itself, that no one seems to be looking at the other aspects. If the devs would simply confirm or deny, I think that would be awesome!

You are extremely wrong here :D:p the infamy system makes you have 9 players on your battle with almost the same eficiency you have (at least until 3000 infamy points where the lack of nightmare players force you to play with really stronger opponents and teammates). Repeating thousands of battles this way you'll find a 50% win ratio.
Search the forum. They deny those crazy conspiracy ideas every week ;)

I would really appreciate a link where, as you say, the devs say that they are not manipulating the game in any way to insure an approximate 50/50 win/loss ratio, or similar. So far, all i've seen is complaints and answers specifically about matchmaking as well as explanations of infamy, etc. The absence of the above statement, or similar, is not the same as an official denial.
