Suggestion about dealing with infamy tanking

    Hey guys, first I'd like to say the devs seem to be doing something to deal with this problem every update, and that's great. Here's another suggestion I think it could help: The devs could use the average of infamy by level to multiply the contribution of a player on guild quests (kind of like they do with the stars).
    Someone posted this graphic here on the forum that shows the average infamy by level for 90 days.

    Taking me as example, I'm current level 41 and 2700 infamy points which means I'm way lower than average, then my contribution with the guild quests should be half it'd be if I was on average. Being under the average infamy for your level would make you to work twice harder to complete missions, IMHO that would be a great incentive to improve skills and the competitiveness all around the bay.
    Sorry for the poor english, and for the big text, but I guess the idea is pretty clear :D

    I love the thought put into this post...however I hate the idea of making guild leaders sound so tyrannical and like helicopter parents. You can already see how much a person can contribute to a guild by clicking on the trophy icon. And the guild quests have been balanced so that everyone can compete.

    Anyway, I don’t like this idea, full. Giving incentives to the people who do the best I agree.

    Maybe the top three guild contributors can get some extra bonus tokens? I don’t know

    That'd be the bigger problem... But that's the only thing I could think, so far, to eliminate what I think to be the current main reason to tank: guild quests. :D

    Maybe the guild leader is given 1,000,000 gold every rivalry. And then he can give badge points out to people in the guild. Whoever gets badge points gets a certain percentage of gold.

    I guess that woudn't help to solve the infamy tanking issue, but I don't dislike the idea :D

    Yeah that is a problem. Maybe if someone drops like 1000 infamy in a day or in a week, and they’ve been reported for floating more than once or suiciding, then they’ll get suspended for 3 months. And have to give up one of their items.

    The problem is that there are real professionals on infamy tanking, people who can manage their infamy for months just to have easier targets or something like that. That's why I think the average infamy by level could help the devs to find a solution.

    Yeah but just because a professional is doing something against the rules doesn’t mean that they should be exempted from the punishment.

    I don't see any of this addressing infamy tanking directly. The game is setup so that you can whipsaw your infamy hundreds of points in a day, which makes matchmaking incredibly inaccurate because infamy tanking is rewarding. Stop the infamy whipsaw, and keep people toward their highest infamy and all these problems magically disappear. Boats, items, and skills don't decrease over time...they increase... so why should infamy be open to manipulation? Because it's rewarding.

    Well and that’s the thing. There are a bunch of inexperienced mk5’s at the 2100 and below range. And other ships who are higher up with a mk5 and have better weapons think that if they get rid of their infamy, then they’ll be able to crush some noobs. And they are not wrong. But they also aren’t right.

    I think what needs to happen if there was a fix to matchmaking is that no matter how much infamy you gain or loose, you should still play against the people at your league.

    What is infamy anyway? Only knowing that can you even talk about infamy tanking. Is it supposed to be a measure of your power and skill. It's not though because we know that infamy + MK5 boat means something different than infamy in MK6, or MK4. But we only have one infamy number. So right there you know the conversation is dead and Infamy itself has little meaning.

    For what it's worth, I recently broke 3k for the first time and find the game easier and more consistent than it was at 1k infamy. Almost everybody at this level is actually trying to win :)

    I'm fixer and got trapped in infamy tanking tool from the last week while trying new setup and completing guild quests. And now I find it impossible that I will ever come out of this. If you are a fixer you are dependent on others to do damage and win the battle and if they are bad the you also fail. I'm just stuck at 2600-2700 from the last week. It is frustrating getting useless rewards after every battle that are not worth the time and effort you spend in this game. You can't even earn resources that will help you to level up items and train crew. Whats the point of wasting your time on something and getting nothing.

    That must be so frustrating, to be punished because of other people's dishonesty.
    I've never been punished by the tanking tool for that long, maybe half of a day because of really bad losing streaks and how losing forced me to make more and more mistakes, but even being punished for something I'm not doing on purpose I think the game is way funnier now without the amount of AFK we had before the devs created the tanking tool and improved the Nightmare league rewards and changed the guild's rivalry matchmaking.
    Knowing they are trying to make our gameplay better makes me happy :D I hope that they can find solutions to make tanking unworthy without punish honest people having a bad time soon. Until there we can only improve our skills and give them our suggestions and feedbacks.
    PS: Hope you can soon come back to the infamy you belong :D:D:D
