The boost are a really unhealthy object for the rivalry, as it is only possible to win using them (as of the new rivalry update). This makes the rivalry implayable for f2p guilds.
The new rivalry is so much fun, in a lot of aspects, but the matchmaking system makes it so competitive, that you have use 80+ x5 boost every rivalry to even be able to compete for 1-3 place

Personally, I just aim to do as many quests as I can with my guild, and it feels good to beat our previous records even if our opponents in the rivalry happen to score 10 more quests than us. I got 6th place last rivalry, but we weren't so far off from our personal best, so I was satisfied with the ~100k tokens we got from quests and completing boards alone.

It sucks, I know, but p2w just has that much power. They're paying for that 42k boost, essentially. I say just take what your guild can earn from the quests alone and think of the rivalry prize as a small bonus and no more.

Agreed that boosts play a too large role in rivalries.

But coming from a f2p guild I will argue that the new system was a massive improvement for f2p guilds chances of winning rivalries.
Before we got matched up against whale guilds running on a constant stream of x5 and guilds that completed 20+ more quests than us. Now we get matched up against guilds that quest at our pace (boosts are already factored into the algoritm by default).

A clever f2p guild has a decent shot at competing for #1 every 2 weeks if they use their limited amount of boosts cleverly. Before the patch a nightmare f2p guild would almost never be fighting for first.

I agree... the way rivalries are implemented feels artificial from the outset, and boosts are the biggest evidence; a cash grab to make sure P2P guilds win over F2P. There's no other way to spin their existence.

The fact that it was solely based on infamy was also a bad idea, because 1 high inf member could wreck the entire next rivalry. But in this fashion, you will get increasingly stronger opponents untill your either forfeit an entire rivalry (completing very few quest) og your just realize that last place is the place for you.

We went 55 quest in the first rivalry of the new system, using some boost. The next rivalry we were setup with others guilds at 55 quest, we ended last at 40 quest, cause we were trying to reset/lower the opponent lvl for next rivalry. It just didnt work, and we got paired with +55 again. Thus destroying the guilds chance of ever winning a rivalry without some serious $ thrown into the game.

You are really salty about the 42K tokens for first place. The majority of tokens comes from just doing the quests. Why do people care about this bonus so much. Just be happy with doing as many quests as you can. even 48 quests nets you 114k tokens. If people want to pay exhorbitantly high real life $$$ for a mere fraction of their net token gain, let them be.

Heres the logic: You want f2p to have a completely level playing field with people who spent a few lifetimes mortages on this game like American Marauder.
If the enemy guild leader, added you messaged and told you they spent a mortage worth on boosts to win, you are still going to say it to their face that its unfair and that everything should be leveled? sheesh
In real life, would you pay for an economy ticket and ask to sit in first class without paying the upgrade fee? Rivalry is good, and a few boosts is fine for the rivalry, but if a guild is boosting like hell and spending tons of cash, you wanting a level playing field with them is just greedy. Have fun and quest and don't sweat the insignificant token bonus. Really if 42k is THAT important. just ask devs to lower it :(

It's not about the 42 k tokens. The quest themselves are not particulary funny to complete, but you are doing it partly for the tokens but also for the competition.
If it wasnt for the rivalry i would have died in the infamy game, cause that is more about money than anything. But the competition that rivalry gives, makes it exciting to fight for 1. place every week, not just for 42k tokens, but because it's fun to win and compete.
That is the real reason i hate the boost system, it takes the fun out of competing, because you simply can't every other week or more.

Let's not pretend 42k tokens is inconsequential. 36 quests completed is worth 81k tokens. 42k tokens more than half of that total quest output, and 13+ raffle draws. 4th place? A single raffle draw.

Is something missing in your post, or was it just to say, that you can compete without spending dollars?
