We have all had that moment when just as we are releasing the fire button and the target reticle jumps from one ship to another and you shoot the space between them.

Or you are aiming to shoot a torpedo in the direction where no enemies are shown, but you know they are there. That speeder comes in from the side and your target jumps in his direction. Your torpedo harmlessly cruises off into the wall in the middle of nowhere.

Can we get a quality of life change where if we are ACTIVELY aiming at something, the target magnetization to nearest target is turned off?

If I have my thumb on the target, I am pretty intent on what I am aiming at and the "assist" only serves to frustrate.

Turn off auto target lock or whatever it's called in the settings

Doesn't help. Reticle still gets pulled to closest target. I don't object to that behavior.
What is aggravating is when reticle gets pulled to nearest target while I am actively aiming...

Just imagine it's the gunner getting startled by something.

Does this 'bouncing, reticle aiming' have to do with sticky targets?
If yes, i may have to start using target lock.

I don't know, I've had both sticky targets and auto-lock off. Also have weapon free so camera doesn't turn with boat. Bouncing targets suck.

The only way I can ensure my target doesn't bounce is to manually lock on a target. As soon as that guy disappears, the target bounces to the next closest ship.

That's a really good idea as I've been struggling to suggest a solution for the same. Auto-lock is better than not auto-lock, and I think this would definitely help with the unintentional misfires.

Note that this doesn't address the close-range purposeful auto-bounce off target... the devs do that intentionally (I'm pretty sure.. if not it's a major bug :).

This has been driving me crazy all week. WTF happened to targeting? It’s bad enough my Ex Cannon got nerfed... but this targeting thing is like a double nerf, as half my shots are flying sideways into the sea.

I want my target to stay on what I’m pointing my turret at.

This would be REALLY hard to implement. And if they did add it, it would be harder to switch targets and take good opportunities to save the game. I've never really had this problem so I dunno :p

Yeah that is annoying but, sadly, less annoying than the target lock implementation .
